MINUTES OF CUB SCOUT LEADERS MEETING
on 29th May 2009.

There were apologies from Matt and Neil.
The minutes were read, approved and then signed.

MATTERS ARISING

29th got through to the semifinals of the county football competition.
St George’s day parade went well, some uniform was very sloppy – if not uniform trousers then should be school trousers.
Gilwell 2010 –entrance fee for leaders will be £8. Vanessa is trying to do a deal!

NEWS FROM DISTRICT, COUNTY AND HQ

County conference will be on 29th November. BYO packed lunch. Those who booked for the February conference that was postponed will be contacted by email. Registration forms will be available in September. The county AGM will be held at the end – do not have to stay!
There is now a Hampshire Cub Police badge which will be available from Terry. The requirements for the badge will be sent out as an email attachment.
Bear Grylls is the new Chief Scout from July onwards.
Change4life has healthy eating resources on its website www.nhs.uk/change4life
NVQ in activity leadership level 2 is available for leaders to do. It is free and involves being assessed planning, doing and reviewing activities. It takes about 9 months, ties in with the Wood Badge and gives a nationally recognised qualification.
Auditions for the district panto – Robin Hood – are taking place on 7th and 8th June.
Trevor owen will be asking for nominations for a new DC from September onwards as Frank’s term of office comes to an end in March 2010.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS

District camp - 25th to 27th September at Fernycrofts. Cost is £30 for cubs, scouts and explorers, free for leaders and parent helpers.£12 for beavers to come down by coach for the day on the Saturday. District will give groups £10 back per participant for food. 6 vans have been hired to transport the kit. Groups can set up from 1pm on the Friday. There is going to be a leaders meeting on 15th July.

Water activities day - 120 cubs booked, with 15 on the waiting list for places. If anyone drops out nearer the time Jannette will take the ones on the list. Land bases for 60. Tracey and Ian agreed to put on a cooking base. We can use archery range. Mark Medler to organise the hike/orienteering. 26th to run chariots and go karts. Jon to run some team challenges. Ian Cox will float and act as trouble shooter since Jannette will be on archery all day.. Other leaders were allocated to taking groups round.

Cycling event – 17th October??. Ian Cox to contact Janet Endan re Eelmoor.

Any other business

Dates of camps were handed in.
